State-of-the-art security using artificial intelligence is being deployed at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in a test for potential applications at this summer’s Paris Olympics. Local authorities say they are using 17 experimental cameras equipped with AI technology which are designed to detect "any event that is likely to be abnormal", says Cannes municipal police director Yves Daros. “Artificial intelligence gives live information to the municipal police operator, who instantly decides whether or not to send out a patrol,” Daros adds.
