Description
European Commission president Ursula Von der Leyen says she is ready to start negotiations to build a majority with European parties who have previously "worked well" together, following gains by the extreme-right parties in the bloc's elections. "My aim is to continue along this path with those who are pro-European, pro-Ukraine and pro-rule of law," she says. "We may disagree on individual points", says Von der Leyen, from the centre-right EPP group, vying for a second term as EU chief, "but we all want a strong Europe that is able to act."
