Description
The only known remaining football shirt from Uruguay's gold medal at the 1924 Olympic Games was without a buyer at an auction in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo. No one bid the 90,000 US dollars base bid for the century-old jersey of striker Angel Romano, who played in the match in which Uruguay first achieved Olympic glory with a 3-0 win over Switzerland in Colombes, on the outskirts of Paris. A shirt from Uruguay's triumph in the first FIFA World Cup, in 1930, however, did sell at the asking price of 50,000 US dollars. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
