Description
In a whirl of feathers and colors, singers and dangers in a remote Amazon town spend the last three nights in June celebrating the Parintins Folklore Festival. In an arena shaped like a cow's head, two rival groups -- the "Garantido" wearing red and "Caprichoso" in blue -- dance out the history and legends of the Amazon. According to the governor of the state of Amazonas, more than 120,000 people will pass through Parintins, located on Tupinambarana island in the Amazon River, during the 3-day festival.
