Description
A Barbie that spent six months orbiting the Earth on the International Space Station is to go on public display for the first time at the Design Museum in London, part of a new exhibition marking the 65th anniversary of the Barbie brand. "Very few toys have that kind of amazing longevity and that kind of presence in popular culture," says Design Museum Curator Danielle Thom. "And one of the keys to that longevity, and to that cultural presence, is rooted in design, the design of the doll, but also of the doll's world, the houses, the fashions, the cars." The exhibition, which features more than 250 items on display, runs until February 2025. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
