Description
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, along with the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Marquez, are expected to visit San Basilio de Palenque, in Colombia. The village is considered the "first free town in South America", since it was founded in the 18th century by African ex-slaves. San Basilio de Palenque, located in the Colombian Caribbean, was declared by UNESCO a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity. The Palenquero language combines Spanish with African languages, mainly from the Bantu family, and for the first time it is taught to read and write in this language so as to preserve it.
