Description
Venezuelan opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia's lawyer asks the Attorney General to avoid "political persecution" as he delivers a document explaining why the opposition candidate did not appear for three prosecutor's office summonses.
Gonzalez Urrutia, 75, ignored three demands to appear before prosecutors as part of a probe into his claim that he was the rightful victor of last month's presidential election. Following these denials, a court approved an arrest warrant for Gonzalez Urrutia for "serious crimes" related to the opposition's insistence that incumbent President Maduro and his allies stole the vote.
