Description
Documentary filmmaker, Ermias Woldeamlak’s three brothers were the victims of Ethiopia's Marxist-Leninist military junta known as the Derg, who overthrew the absolute monarchy of Emperor Haile Selassie, in 1974. Fifty years on, for Woldeamlak, memories come flooding back of the terror a generation ago. “I remember it as a fresh as something that actually happened yesterday.” Tens of thousands of people died at the hands of the regime which ruled with callous brutality until its overthrow in 1991.
