The appeal trial of the driver of a school bus hit by a Regional train in southern France in 2017 opened in Aix-en-Provence. The lawyer of the bus driver present at the hearing, says the driver is determined to prove that 'the barriers were up' when she crossed the rails. Nadine Oliveira was found responsible for this tragedy, in which six school children lost their lives, and was sentenced to five years' imprisonment for manslaughter and unintentional injury in November 2022 in Marseille, but four of those years were suspended.
