The "extreme" weather and "intense" rainfall triggering deadly floods and displacing millions of people in West Africa this year are the "effects of climate change," according to Senegalese climate expert Aida Diongue-Niang. "The only way to reduce the incidence of these extreme events is to limit greenhouse gas emissions,” she says. “It doesn't depend on the region; it depends on the whole of humanity.”
