She has been shot. On December 20th 2001 her husband, Daniel Carlson and mother-in-law Carol Carson are arrested for her murder. They are found guilty in February 2003 and sentenced to nearly 37 years in prison. In May 2006 their convictions are overturned on appeal. They both go on to plead guilty to lesser offences and are re-sentenced in Dec 2007 / Jan 2008. We have seen some news footage from the re-sentencing that shows the judge commenting that he does not believe justice has been served in the case.
