Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga urges Syria to expel Russia from the country telling his counterpart Asaad al-Shaybani that "Russia exported bombs, death and destruction to Syria, while Ukraine exports, supplies, flour, and guarantees of life". Sybiga's comments came during an unannounced visit to Damascus, where he met the new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a separate statement that his country had sent its first shipment of food aid, 500 tonnes of wheat flour, to Syria and that it would arrive on Tuesday.
