People in The Gambia fill in forms to apply to take part in a temporary migration programme to Spain. During a tour of Mauritania, The Gambia and Senegal at the end of August 2024, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, promised to develop "circular migration", allowing migrants to work in Spain on a contract basis for a limited period to meet the needs of a specific sector before returning home.
