Description
When German Gerhard Wagner takes his dog for a walk, he heads toward France. In Leidingen, or Leiding, the France-Germany border runs through the village, and the idea of permanent border checks between the two countries, almost impossible to implement, divides the population. A small rural road marks the geographical division of the town, with a few dozen residents live in Leiding on the French side, compared to fewer than 200 in Leidingen, Germany. On one side, it’s rue de la Frontière (Border Street) in France. On the other, it’s Neutrale Straße (Neutral Street) in Germany. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
