Thousands gather in Indonesia's Singkawang as the mystical Lunar New Year festival Chap Go Meh is held in the Bornean city. The colourful ritual marks the 15th day of the Lunar New Year calendar when the minority ethnic Chinese community in the world's fourth most populous country gather to drive away evil spirits. Crowds gathered under lanterns as men dress as warriors perform while tatung, or shamans possessed by holy or ancestral spirits, licking swords or puncturing cheeks showing blades sticking out of the mouths.
