Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa delivers cars to the police in Guayaquil to combat drug trafficking and organized crime plaguing the country. The Armed Forces conduct operations to dismantle homes used by criminal gangs.
"As the elections approach, terrorist groups intensify their attacks to try to destabilize us," says Noboa during an event where he handed over 120 patrol cars. "If they attack with violence, we respond with even more strength," he adds.
On March 11, Noboa announced a "strategic alliance" to combat drug trafficking with the support of the founder of the private security firm Blackwater, involved in the massacre of 17 civilians in Baghdad in 2007. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
