Goodson's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Meade, but that is put on hold until the trial is completed. They are expected to be present in court every day of the trial. Both the prosecution and the defense delivered opening statements on Wednesday. Witness testimony got underway in court Thursday morning. The prosecution called Goodson's sister, Janae Jones, and his grandmother, Sharon Payne, to the stand.
