Description
There's a big new finding in the new AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs poll: neither presidential candidate has a decisive edge on the economy. About 4 in 10 say Donald Trump would be better on the economy, and about 4 in 10 say Kamala Harris would be better on the economy.
Both candidates approach the economy differently. Trump sees it as growing from tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy in order to generate more investment. He also sees tariffs as key for increasing manufacturing jobs in the United States. By contrast, Harris wants to make the middle class a priority. She wants to see higher taxes on companies and the wealthy in order to pay for tax breaks and programs targeting the middle class.
In many cases, we see a spread on the issues in terms of which candidate might do better. Most US adults looked at Trump and said he would be better on immigration. But they looked at Harris and said she would do better on issues like health care, guns, abortion and climate change.
