Description
Police are deployed in large numbers outside an Istanbul courthouse after the arrest of Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu was formalised, with his detention sparking Turkey's worst unrest in over a decade. The street movement has been led by students, with some of them also now facing legal problems. "The only accusation against the students so far is that of being present at the demonstration. In other words, it's not an active action they took during the demonstration, but just being there," says Engin Kara, a lawyer representing some of the detained students. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
