July 18, 1957 San Diego restaurateur, George Pernicano, well known for his 15-inch handlebar mustache, is in the news again. Seems he was somewhat concerned with what it would be like should he accidentally be stripped of the adornment…so he’s taken out an insurance policy with Lloyd’s of London, through agent Griff Hayes, insuring it against loss in the amount of fifty thousand dollars. He’ll have to be mighty careful about the way he lights his cigars.
