Description
In June 1988 Hal Clement profiled the Julian Library for his Words and Pictures series. The town’s second library was previously the Santa Ysabel School—it opened in 1888. It closed in 1954 and sixteen years later, the Julian Historical Society wanted to save it. It was a monumental task, but they moved it ten miles up a windy, hilly road. In 1971 the schoolhouse became the Julian Library. And now, in 2024, it’s the home of the Julian Historical Society.
