Description
In July 2009 San Diego Zoo had exciting news to deliver—giant panda Bai Yun was pregnant with her fifth cub. Jeff Zevely was there and the zoo’s curator of mammals told him the baby was expected sometime in early August. And on August 5th, the wee one arrived—squealing and healthy. Steve Price was there for the news conference where it was noted Bai Yun was maturing as a mother. Also included is a photo essay from photojournalist Jon Stinebaugh, looking back at Hua Mei and her siblings Mei Sheng, Su Lin, and Zhen Zhen.
