Description
Sponsored by: Navy Federal Credit Union | San Diego is home to a strong and vibrant community, with more than 115,000 active-duty service members. But America’s Finest City is also one of the most expensive places to live, which can impact young enlisted families who struggle to make ends meet. Luz Cordero-Lazott, Assistant Vice President of Branch Operations at Navy Federal Credit Union, joins our Laura Cavanaugh to share an easy way for our community to step up and salute our military families and give back.
CBS 8 is partnering with Navy Federal Credit Union and nonprofit STEP, Support The Enlisted Project, on a campaign to support military families called Bags for the Brave. From now through the end of May, the public is encouraged to drop off personal care items to any one of Navy Federal’s 27 branches across San Diego County. They can bring personal care items, toiletries and home goods and drop them off at the red donation boxes at the Navy Federal Credit Union branches. All donations will stay local and benefit military personnel, families and veterans based in San Diego.
These are personal care items that you may already have at home or can easily purchase at the store – things like soap, shampoo, disposable razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, deodorant, laundry detergent, dishwasher pods and diapers.
Stand strong together through this Military Appreciation Month and go above and beyond for San Diego’s military community.
