Last week, CBS 8 partnered with the Salvation Army for a telethon to help San Diego flood victims. At last count, they've raised over $167,337, which has gone towards helping more than 600 households. “They gave me extra clothing, towels and so forth like that so it kinda buys me time to get things together,” said Von Manassa. "We really thank the San Diego public for stepping up in our partnership with CBS 8, which has been fantastic," Jake Minger with the Salvation Army said. "We've been able to take all that money, not just a portion, but all of that money and put it back into the community." Minger broke down the numbers so that viewers know exactly where that money is going. So far, they've passed out 6,920 clothing items, and more than 1,046 snacks. They've also provided roughly $55,500 in financial assistance through lodging, In-N-Out Burger gift cards and vouchers that can be used at Salvation Army stores.
