Description
"Squid Game: The Challenge" is a new Netflix reality competition spinoff and one of the contestants lives in Coronado.
Ryan Winters, player 275, shared his experience on the show with CBS 8.
“It was actually the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life, but the most incredible thing at the same time,” said Winters, one of 456 people from around the globe competing for $4.56 million dollars. “When you go in there, you’re putting yourself to the test, so for me walking into it, my mindset was just to be prepared for anything and everything.”
Winters was eliminated during the first game, ‘red light, green light.’ He actually made it to the end with 38 seconds to go, but he and about 25 others were caught moving across the finish line when it was technically time to freeze.
“All of us were elated, were celebrating, giving hugs, and we’re ready to go to the dorms and round 2, and next thing you know, all of our vests… boom, boom, boom, boom, exploded,” recalled Winters.
Contestants wore vests with exploding dye packs that would go off when being eliminated.
