Description
Thousands of migrants are gathering at the U.S.-Mexico border, hoping to claim asylum once Title 42 ends on May 11. The pandemic-era restriction ends Thursday, and preparations have been underway to prepare for a continued surge at the border. Title 42 has been in place for more than three years. It was designed as a way to restrict people from entering the United States as a way to prevent COVID. Once it expires, more people will have the opportunity to seek asylum in the U.S. Additional Title 42 coverage: https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/investigations/beyond-the-border/whats-title-42-and-what-happens-when-it-ends/509-5be0b7c6-6984-421f-9d4c-b79568dce9ba https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/investigations/beyond-the-border/asylum-seekers-at-border-fueled-by-misinformation/509-a3f3e7bc-41ba-47b9-b9a5-435db08b8060 https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/verify/title-42-end-does-not-open-us-border-what-it-means/536-b42a0230-b695-4fe5-8856-3525477dcb06
