The J.C. Penney Store in North Park, completely remodeled over an eighteen-month period, was opened to the public today with a good sized crowd on hand for the ceremonies. One of the speakers was the store’s manager, V.R. Linn. Another was Supervisor James Robbins, along with city and North Park dignitaries and Penney executives. Then Manager Linn and Lucy Recht, Miss North Park, were ready for the official act of ribbon cutting. That was the signal for shoppers to enter. They found an interior described as new as tomorrow. The store, in preparing for the opening had on hand an inventory of merchandise valued at well over a million dollars.
