Description
January 21, 1987
Just say no to drugs--San Diego Padres Tony Gwynn and Dave Dravecky brought the message to Mission Bay Little League ball players. The Royals got to play catch with the pros, and they appeared in a public service announcement about drugs. The San Diego Chicken was there too. Tony told Chris Saunders that he didn’t need drugs to get high—he got the high from playing. Dave said he had a responsibility to spread the message to kids. First Lady Nancy Reagan created the slogan in 1986. It was an advertising campaign that aimed to discourage children from engaging in illegal recreational drug use.
