A two-alarm fire roared through a Mission Hills canyon this afternoon…ten pieces of fire equipment battled the blaze, and it was under control in less than an hour. The canyon runs behind Clark, Puterbaugh and Pringle streets. Many neighbors joined in the battle, using garden hoses. Though flames raced to within a few feet of several homes, only one house was slightly damaged…the roof of a home at 1834 Torrance. A campfire started by an 11-year old boy was cited as the cause.
