The 7.7 magnitude quake had an epicenter near Mandalay in Myanmar. It struck at midday local time and was followed by a strong 6.4 magnitude aftershock. In Thailand, at least three people were killed in the capital, Bangkok, and dozens buried when a building under construction collapsed.
