Description
Detectives with the St. Petersburg Police Department are searching for a man seen on surveillance video taking a sculpture worth $21,000 from an art gallery back in November 2024.
The robbery happened around 2:22 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2024, at the Duncan McClellan Gallery on Emerson Avenue South.
Police said after two men entered the gallery, one of them — later identified as 45-year-old Willie Wilson —worked to distract a sales associate. Meanwhile, another man was caught on camera picking up a cast glass sculpture titled "Torso XI" by Latchezar Boyadjiev from a display shelf and tucking it into his waistband.
Wilson was caught and arrested on Jan. 7, 2025. He has been charged as a principal to grand theft greater than $20,000 but less than $100,000.
