Tarrant County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Tipton, a 13-year veteran with the department, was shot three times while serving a warrant to a man charged with Sexual Assault of a Child in Fort Worth, TCSO says. Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn briefed reporters in a press conference on the deputy's status. He said Deputy Tipton was shot in the neck, arm and lower back, but all the bullets missed his vital organs. After a standoff with police, the Fort Worth SWAT team shot and killed the suspect.

On August 7, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Tarrant County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to serve a warrant on a 40-year-old male in the 2900 block of Elinor St. As deputies approached the residence, they were shot at by the suspect from inside the home.
One of the deputies was shot three times and was immediately transported to a local hospital. The injuries are non-life-threatening and the deputy is expected to fully recover.
The suspect was wanted on felony warrants of Sexual Assault of a Child, Indecency with a Child Sexual Contact and Unlawful Restraint Under 17 Years of Age. He barricaded himself in the home after shooting at TCSO Deputies.
