Description
Sony is showing off its new surgical robot tool. The prototype was recently unveiled at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' International Conference in Yokohama, Japan.
It works by replicating the movements of the surgeons' hands and fingers. That lets the instrument itself operate smoothly, which is useful in microsurgeries, Sony said.
The instrument can work in conjunction with a microscope to repair small tissues, veins and nerves. Sony said it will work with university medical departments and institutions to help make them more available and accessible to doctors.
