April 7 on The Story: Anglers are taking to the Columbia River to get their first chances at spring-run salmon, and they may have some decent chances; researchers at NOAA forecast salmon returns this year above the 10-year average. While that seems like good news, it's still below the average from the decades prior — and as one researcher we spoke with said, it's no promise of a rebound. Climate change is having a major impact on the behavior of both salmon prey and predators. And as those species adapt to changing conditions, salmon aren't so lucky.
