Description
March 3 on The Story: Last week, we delved into the considerable budget shortfalls at both the city of Portland and Multnomah County. In both cases, officials were looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million in cuts. In Portland, that looks like it's going to mean broad impacts to services across the board, quite possibly including the ones meant to address homelessness. And Chair Jessica Vega Pederson warned that the county faces that much in potential cuts to homeless services alone. But today, we're getting a little more insight into both budget battles; why Vega Pederson may have overstated the risk in the county, and what a city councilor who's been through this process before has to say about where Portland stands now.
