Feb. 20 on The Story: The Portland Metro Chamber, an alliance of central city businesses, presented its latest annual report on the state of the local economy this morning. The findings were mostly grim. Multnomah County in particular continues to see an exodus of residents, the job market is shrinking in spite of national growth, and the high cost of living remains a major turnoff. The lead researcher behind the report said that these factors together, if they continue, could have the city's economy circling the drain. We'll ask him live on The Story tonight how Portland can turn the ship around.
