Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez said recently that he doesn't think there's a public defender crisis caused by a shortage of attorneys, at least not in Multnomah County. Instead, he said he considers it a "work stoppage" — a deliberate slowdown. Public defenders, especially the ones working for nonprofits, beg to differ.
