Description
Firefighters across Oregon are heading out to California to help with several large wildfires burning in the Los Angeles area. At least two people have died, and more than 1,1000 structures have been destroyed, with at least 70,000 under evacuation orders.
The Oregon Fire Marshal has mobilized 12 strike teams from multiple counties to California so far, including 240 firefighters and 60 engines. Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, among the four strike teams from Washington County, departed from Wilsonville Wednesday.
"They are getting beat up down there right now. Any kind of relief we can go down there and help them with, that's what we are there to do," Lt. Ryan Stenhouse told KGW.
