Dec. 30 on The Story: For years, a venerable three-story home off Northwest 24th Avenue and Weidler Street has been developing something of a reputation — it's a magnet for out-of-control drivers. The latest crash happened late Christmas Eve. At the curve where eastbound traffic on Weidler jives north onto 24th, a driver careened over the curb, busted a gas line out front and started a massive fire. Current and former tenants of the building say crashes here are almost commonplace by now, counting dozens over the years. So, why hasn't the city of Portland done more to protect the people who live there?
