Dec. 19 on The Story: After members of the outgoing Portland City Council said their official goodbyes on Wednesday, today marked the next step: swearing in all 12 of the city's new council members and Mayor-elect Keith Wilson. It's a historic changing of the guard for the city. Not only are there a great many new faces for city government, but it marks a historic sea change for how the city does business. When they meet for the first time in just two weeks, the city council will act more like a legislature, and they'll elect their own president to preside instead of having a mayor at the helm each session. As they prepare to take office, we heard from some of the council members about what's foremost in their minds.
