Description
July 15 on The Story: Over the weekend, ODOT took the rare step of shutting down all lanes of Interstate 84 in Portland for an intensive cleanup of graffiti and trash that have built up over the space of years. It was no easy task, and required quite a bit of coordination to accomplish. Gov. Tina Kotek was on hand for the effort, and she characterized the cleanup as a "reset" for the busy corridor — one that won't last without a great deal of community will. But the hope is that efforts like these are beginning to build, perhaps enough that one day Portland will again earn its former reputation as a clean city.
