Description
March 25 on The Story: Over the last few years, the Oregon Department of Transportation has been driving forward plans to add tolls on I-5 and I-205 as it faces a funding crunch that has only gotten worse over time. But earlier this month, Gov. Tina Kotek directed the agency to toss out those plans, asking lawmakers to work next year on legislation that will set the agency up with sustainable funding for the future. Shortly after that bombshell, The Story's Pat Dooris sat down with ODOT Director Kris Strickler to talk about the future for his agency's funding — a future that, more likely than not, will still include tolling in some form or another, and will probably add a new pay-by-mile tax for Oregon drivers.
