Feb. 19 on The Story: If you've been paying attention to The Story over the last couple years, we've covered how both political and business leaders in Oregon have pushed to make the state a desirable destination for the manufacturing of microchips, especially now that the federal government has chipped in over a billion dollars. But part of that investment comes in the form of a workforce adequately prepared to fill those jobs in high-tech manufacturing. For some, that will mean degrees that take at least a few years to attain. For others, it may be as quick as a two-week crash course in what makes chipmaking machines tick.
