Description
Sept. 4 on The Story: Last month, the organization behind Bybee Lakes Hope Center in North Portland stopped taking in new admissions to its homeless shelters and re-entry programs. The organization's founder later told KGW that they had enough money to stay open for three weeks — beyond that, they'd need to shut their doors. They're asking Multnomah County for $5 million to keep Bybee Lakes open, but a decision on that won't come until later this week, right before that critical deadline. For the people who reside at Bybee Lakes and swear by the programs it provides, it would be yet another blow to endure just when they'd thought they were in a safe and secure place.
