Aug. 14 on The Story: After a rocky start, the oversight council charged with distributing millions in Oregon's cannabis tax dollars toward drug treatment programs really got down to it late last year. Paired with drug decriminalization, this funding for drug treatment was the thrust of Measure 110, passed by voters in 2020. But a key piece of the addiction treatment landscape — inpatient withdrawal management or "detox" — doesn't seem to be benefiting directly from those funds. Why is that? Well, it's complicated, and you'll get different answers depending on who you ask. Tonight, we dive into the issue and try to untangle the knot of inpatient drug treatment in Oregon.
