July 12, 2023 on The Story: Last week, a lot of people were excited to learn that people in 17 states, including Oregon and Washington, could soon see the Northern Lights in the night sky due to an incoming solar storm. We were certainly pumped. But as it turns out, that little bit of news out of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute was more than a little overblown. So tonight we're joined by KGW Chief Meteorologist Matt Zaffino to thoroughly rain on everyone's parade and explain why that's the case
