May 15, 2023 on The Story: This morning, tenants of an apartment building on Southwest Taylor woke up to smoke in the hallways. As firefighters responded and residents of the building evacuated, the building went up in flames — heaving a column of smoke over downtown Portland. At least one firefighter was injured in an explosion that blew out glass windows. Tonight we're continuing KGW's coverage of that fire and digging into what we've been able to find out about the building, built back in 1910.
