Description
April 11, 2023 on The Story: In downtown Portland, the vacant building known as Washington Center has become a hub for homeless people who trade and use fentanyl and other drugs. Little more than a week ago, it was at the center of a web of overdoses — at least 11, according to Portland police, with three deaths — all in the space of a weekend. KGW reporter Blair Best spoke with a young man named Nate who said he'd overdosed and was revived with Narcan. He wanted a way out, a chance to kick his fentanyl addiction. Tonight we follow Best as she returned with outreach workers, Nate's family and the father of another young man addicted to fentanyl as they raced against time to find and connect them with a detox program.
