April 6, 2023 on The Story: In order to fund government programs over the last two years, the state of Oregon took in a mind-boggling $121 billion. But the number can be deceptive — in reality, lawmakers usually have less than a third of that funding to work with, and even that cut gets quickly chipped away by the budgets of state agencies and other major obligations. To explain what that looks like, tonight we're taking a deep dive into the Oregon budget, and particularly into the $32 billion that lawmakers are working to allocate for the next two years.
