Description
March 31, 2023 on The Story: Over the past few decades, Oregon has been stewarding the reintroduction of gray wolves into the state. Populations have been growing — it's a true conservation success story. But the vast majority of packs stick to the northeastern corner of the state. For ranchers like Coleman Lay up in Union County, that makes this a much darker kind of story. The wolves kill cows, and they don't stop there. Earlier this year they killed his dog, Dodge, as well. It's yet another reason why people like Lay feel that they're being ignored by people on the west side who don't understand their struggles.
